Louis Hannes was a native of Wisconsin, a graduate of the University of Wisconsin and a retired insurance executive. He was always into history, especially the Civil War and its wonderful stories.
Heroes in Black Hats is his first published novel, but he also completed two other books which have yet to be published. Sadly, he lost his fight with heart disease in 2010, while working on rewrites of his third book.
He lives on in the hearts and thoughts of his many family and friends – and the great story he shared with us in this book and his other writings.
